POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Business Applications Analyst approaches business problems
through a technology solutions lens. The person in this position
challenges the original request and initial solution idea to reach a
true plan for a complete, measured targeted delivery. This position
works closely with business partners and leaders, technology
administrators and engineers, and vendors to architect a complete
solution path for projects ranging from new system implementations to
existing internal process improvements. The Sr. Business Applications
Analyst will attend regular meetings with end-users from various
operational departments within the credit union and conduct focused
solutions review meetings with the technology team. The person in this
position will bring a passion for communicating and reaching mutual
goals. They may lean on previous system or application administration
experience to offer creative solutions to consider.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Stay up-to-date with CU and business unit priorities while
clarifying the requirements of requests; research, brainstorm, and
design technology solutions in conjunction with SMEs, product
owners, analysts, and technical administrators and engineers.Mature
process and reference documentation for technical and functional
specifications. For example, ensure regular processes such as User
Access Reviews are completed within timely manner and that data
mapping documents are kept up to date.
- Document and obtain sign-off on final requirements within a
complete project plan so that the Technology team can deliver on a
mutually-agreed upon path for success in response to each business need.
- Assess potential solutions and meet with vendors to support and
clarify the Credit Union’s and Technology departments’ plan for
upgrades; support evaluation, testing, procedure, and validation efforts
- Maintain documentation and create or update technology operational
procedures. Use System Integration and Data Mapping as a tool to
understand how one change may need to be reviewed for potential impacts.
- Monitor release enhancements and changes to the environment;
attend code review or change control to keep abreast of custom
configurations by partnering teams.
- Occasionally respond to alerts or planned maintenance outside
regularly scheduled hours. Perform other duties, such as
internal Technology Safety and Soundness efforts, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or completed higher education courses
in a relatable field
- Ten-plus years of similar or related experience
- Five-plus years working in the Financial Industry or Credit Union space
Required Knowledge:
- Good written and verbal communication skills to translate between
business partners and technical team members, as well as
stakeholders and project managers.
- Experience working in an office environment and navigating
collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, and Outlook scheduling
assistant and automatic replies to show consideration of others’ time
- Ability to manage multiple work-streams, including emergency
support tasks, and communicate roadblocks or concerns for
maintaining progress on scheduled projects and tasks
- Ability to work well in a dynamic and changing environment, and
adapt quickly to new conditions and priorities
- Ability to recognize and define problems, research and establish
facts, and resolve issues and problems promptly.
- Ability to adhere to the Financial Industry, Credit Union, and
Cybersecurity/Data Privacy regulations to protect our members’ data
and our organizational reputation
Experience Required:
- Experience preparing Process and Business Documentation and
creating repeatable procedures
- Strong familiarity with administering core Financial platforms,
ancillary credit union business applications, Online and Mobile
Banking, or API integrations
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in object-oriented programming language(s) such as
PowerOn, HTML, C#, Powershell, Javascript
- Experience providing troubleshooting support, and translating
findings from troubleshooting activities into clear descriptions for
partnering teams and vendors
- Demonstrated experience contributing to a project or
release/upgrade plan, coordination, or execution
- Preferred experience clarifying requirements from end users or
project teams and crafting solutions that meet or exceed initial requirements
- Utilizing programming and database concepts, and familiarity with
the Software Development Life Cycle
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to manage multiple work-streams and proactively
communicate roadblocks or concerns for maintaining progress on
scheduled projects and tasks
- Focus on streamlined operational excellence using User Experience
design and Business Process Re-engineering best practices
- Ability to recognize and define problems, research and establish
facts, communicate and resolve issues and problems promptly
- Adherence to relevant Financial Industry, Credit Union, and
Cybersecurity/Data Privacy regulations, policies, and procedures to
protect our members’ data and our organizational reputation, such as
the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign
Assets Control.
- Preferred familiarity with technology topics such as virtual
server architecture like Microsoft VMs, programming languages such
as .NET or C#; Object-oriented architecture; web programming skills
like HTML, XML, Javascript; web administration skills with IIS;
database and scripting skills with SQL objects or job agent
