Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

 Responsible for support and development of Credit Union applications, including Symitar Episys and creation, maintenance and monitoring of custom PowerOn programs to assist staff with performance of job duties and ensuring data integrity.  Provide knowledgeable support for end-users and seek out ways to automate and streamline processes for staff.  Uphold high ethical standards and confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of data accessibility.  Monitor production of core system and other business applications, including job scheduling, verification of results, and quality control. Maintenance, monitoring and configuration of all Credit Union applications. This position will be the subject matter expert in regards to operational applications deployed within the Credit Union. The position will also manage IT projects through their entire life cycle utilizing Project Management methodologies. This position will serve as a senior technical resource for the Systems Analysis team, ensuring adherence to the software development life cycle, participating in formal code reviews and ensuring compliance of any code or system changes to credit union policies, best practices and any applicable regulations. Prepare reports and provide recommendations for the credit union to the Systems Analysis and Development Manager and VP of Information Technology Business Applications.

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Remain cognizant of and adheres to Credit Union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and any other relevant regulations

  • Perform regular systems processing, ensuring accurate and timely completion of data processing.

  • Coordinate internal and external resources on organization-wide projects, and proactively identify work needed for successful project completion.

  • Consult with users to determine business needs, and translate to software or system functional specifications

  • Analyze business processes to determine opportunities for improvement, make recommendations, coordinate and document resolution.

  • Provide front-line application and operational support for the credit union, serving as Tier I, II and III levels of support.

  • Maintain, upgrade, and patch credit union applications to ensure latest and stable code levels

  • Monitor status of core business systems supporting credit union operations.  Identify and diagnose problems, and coordinate resolution.  Define, document, and initiate corrective action.  Follow up on problem resolution and report on status.

  • Promptly resolve end-user issues relating to business applications and provide secondary support on all business standard systems.

  • Provide knowledgeable support for staff on Symitar system and related systems

  • Maintain AIX operating system environment and ensure system configurations are well documented, secure and within established best practices and policies

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of IT Projects. Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

  • Document, test and modify computer systems to ensure optimal operation within the business environment

  • Develop solutions that enhance business operations using a combination of PowerShell, PowerOn, SymPDF, HTML and JavaScript

  • Review release notes for business applications, identifying and resolving possible issues and how to leverage enhancements as they become available.

  • Escalate and coordinate responses and communication for system outages, coordinating vendors and internal resources to rapid resolution 24/7

  • Serve as senior technical resource for staff in matters regarding business applications and business processes.

  • Provide in-depth support and understanding of credit union operations such as Card Production and administration, IRS and tax reporting, etc.

  • Responsible for Symitar projects, staff support, and development of special reports, processes and electronic forms supporting credit union operations

  • Ensure that end-users and stakeholders are kept informed of all business application system updates, and that the IT Steering Committee is kept apprised of new features that may benefit the credit union. 

  • Participate in formal Code Review and Change Control processes for modifications to application code and configuration

  • Maintain change control and testing processes for modification to applications. Verify test results and meet implementation schedules.

  • Create and maintain technical schematics, business processes and data flows on both a broad conceptual and a highly detailed, technical level

  • Create, update, and delete software users, develop secure user profile templates, and maintain security records for audit purposes.  Administrator responsibilities for select third party service application access, such as Internet Banking, Bill Pay, FICS, etc.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for technical staff, as well as front-end users for standard and custom-built solutions

  • Ensure adherence to Software Develop Life Cycle

  • Perform security patching and maintenance outside of normal business hours in established off-peak time period

  • Respect confidentiality of information handled

  • Routinely be on call outside regularly scheduled hours

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Education/Certification:     

  •  Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and commensurate professional experience required
  • Intermediate PowerOn (II) programming certification or demonstrated equivalence.

  • Other JHA certifications such as Synergy Administrator or Advanced Lending a plus

 Required Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated understanding of programming and database concepts

  • Understanding of credit union policies and procedures that relate to IT and security

  • Intermediate PowerOn (II) Certification or demonstrated equivalence

  • Demonstrated proficiency with web languages such as HTML5, CSS, JavaScript required

  • Demonstrated proficiency with JavaScript libraries such as JQuery or React.JS

  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming principles

  • Understanding of Database Concepts and working knowledge of SQL Queries

  • Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle

 

Experience Required:             

  •  2+ years’ experience managing and developing with a Credit Union Core Processing System. 
  • Experience with Symitar or similar Credit Union core

  • Experience managing and administrating business applications running in a Windows Server environment

  • Demonstrated intermediate ability with Jack Henry’s PowerOn language

  • Previous experience planning, coordinating and executing large scale projects

  • Previous experience soliciting and formalizing requirements from end users and crafting solutions that meet or exceed initial requirements

  • Experience providing direct support for end-users

  • Experience with AIX or UNIX systems, including shell scripting

COMPENSATION:

Wage Range:  $29.16-$43.74
