Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing a variety of Human Resource support duties. Performs professional administrative support functions and acts as back-up to payroll, benefits and HRIS administrators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides exceptional service to all credit union employees

  • Maintains personnel records, including filing/scanning of new hire and termination documents

  • Manages FMLA process, answering leave-related questions for employees and supervisors, and monitoring all documentation related to FMLA leaves

  • Manages ADA interactive process, answering disability-related questions for employees and supervisors, and monitoring all documentation related to ADA accommodations

  • Gathers information related to workplace injuries and files first report of inury with insurance carrier, notifying employees of designated providers for follow-up care

  • Supports employment law compliance by preparing and submitting various reports and notices, including but not limited to federal reports (EEO-1, Vets-4212, Multiple Worksite, etc.) and notices (Medicare, etc.).

  • Prepares responses to unemployment claims, attending hearings as appropriate

  • In coordination with department managers, maintains up-to-date job descriptions for each position

  • Provides back-up support for payroll processing and benefits administration

  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding HR programs, practices and procedures

  • Coordinates employee events and makes arrangements for employee life event gifts/donations

  • Plans and manages special projects and programs

  • Gathers information and prepares reports as assigned

  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems

  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource information confidential

  • Ensures compliance with all employment laws, processes and procedures

  • Stays well informed regarding Human Resource developments

  • Responsible for related duties as required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

  • Completion of at least 2 years of college or equivalent work experience; degree in Human Resources preferred

Knowledge REQUIRED:

  • Expert level knowledge of Word and Excel

  • Good overall knowledge of Human Resources, including employment laws including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, EEOC, FLSA and other federal, state and local laws

Experience:

  • Two years HR administration experience preferred, but not required

Skills/Abilities:

          • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

          • Ability to listen and understand problems, and to assist staff at all levels

          • Strong attention to detail

          • Solid analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities

          • Project management and organizational skills

          • Ability to work independently

          • Ability to assist, direct, and coordinate with others

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Standard office conditions

  • Low to moderate noise

  • Limited lifting up to 10 lbs.
