Job Description


The Financial Services Specialist schedules appointments with members andMEMBERS Financial Service Representatives, markets the MEMBERS Financial Services program to credit union employees and members, and performs administrative functions in supportof the MEMBERS Financial Services program. In addition this position will be trained as support for Premier Members I.R.A and H.S.A accounts and provide support reviewing researching and processing requests for the I.R.A and H.S.A accounts with Premier Members. Activities may include tax reporting, retirement plan administration, IRA/HSA transaction processing and handling research requests to support the retail line of business. Activities performed are in alignment and in accordance with all Retail Administration department processes and procedures. Services are professionally delivered and internal associates and members are provided excellent member service.

  • Schedule appointments with MEMBERS Financial Services representatives and members in accordance with department standards.

  • Consistently meet department quality, service and production standards that promote member satisfaction, retention and expansion.

  • Promote and market the MEMBERS Financial Services program to credit union employees and members.

  • Assist with seminars, make room arrangements, assemble packets, and confirm seminar attendance.

  • Coordinate lobby displays and ensure materials are well supplied and current.

  • Coordinate mailings of newsletters, surveys, seminars, annual review letters, and appointment information forms.

  • Maintain member marketing lists to ensure information is current and accurate.

  • Type memos, reports and correspondence.

  • Manage calendars.

  • Analyze, sort and deliver incoming mail.

  • Provide telephone coverage.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner.

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate filing system.

  • Make photocopies, fax documents and perform other clerical functions.

  • Exhibit support for the organization’s mission, vision, purpose, goals, initiatives, and cost control.

  • Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications.

  • Process incoming IRA and HSA paperwork, death claims, rollovers and transfers

  • Process IRA monthly periodic statements, tax document preparation

  • Notify members of required minimum distribution for IRA accounts

  • Assist department in project planning, research, project tasks and completion

  • Perform daily duties in Retail Administration department to ensure effective completion of all daily, weekly, monthly and annual tasks
  • Follow all established Retail Administration department policies and procedures
  • Work within department processes and procedures in accordance with established policy guidelines and standards, and are properly documented
  • Perform Retail Administration department functions are efficiently and effectively performed in accordance with established Credit Union policies and standards and with applicable laws and regulations
  • Keep manager informed of Retail Administration department activities, progress toward established objectives, and of any significant problems including fraud trends
  • Complete required reports and related documents promptly and accurately, and in compliance with Credit Union guidelines and policies. Ensure the maintenance of department records and ensure the availability of adequate services and materials to support retail line of business activities.
  • Ensure that members are properly informed of Credit Union practices and that requests, problems, and questions are promptly resolved
  • Ensure that the Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained internally and externally
  • Represent and assist departmental projects that involve Payment Services and involve other line of business and stake holders as warranted across the organization
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
  • Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests and requirements.





  • Associate’s Degree and/or 2 years of recent and related work experience required


Required Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of IRA and HSA rules and regulations


Experience Required:

  • Minimum of one year of administrative experience. Prior financial institution sales experience preferred

  • Previous experience with retirement accounts and or tax preparation strongly preferred but not required



  • Professional, courteous and effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to

    explain credit union products, programs and benefits to members and prospective members.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Proven sales and referral skills.

  • Strong relationship building and teamwork skills.

  • Efficient organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities deadlines.

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of Premier Members financial products and services.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

  • Ability to maintain confidences.

  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively to balance workday and to complete all assigned duties in a timely manner

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Working knowledge of operating systems.

  • Clear communication, proficient math and typing skills

  • Must have a professional appearance, dress and attitude
